Roll an Anime Trading Guide
A flashy traded Godly can fill a pedestal — and still block your rebirth plan.
Trading is the social shortcut in Roll an Anime. The idle-gacha loop normally rewards patience: upgrade blocks, time weather, self-roll mutations, fill pedestals, and rebirth with units you personally pulled. Trading skips part of that grind by moving characters between players. Sometimes that is fun. Sometimes it is progress poison. This guide explains trade value versus rebirth eligibility, why self-rolled units matter, and when trading actively hurts account growth.
If you have not learned the core loop yet, read Getting Started and Rebirth before you accept a single high-tier offer.
Trade value versus plot value
Trade value is what the community thinks a character is worth in exchanges — rarity, mutation tags, hype names, screenshot appeal. Plot value is what the unit actually earns on your pedestals given your block tier, mutations, and Best Setup placement.
Those two numbers diverge constantly:
- A hyped Godly from Best Units discussions might trade for huge offers but earn modest cash on your current blocks if mutations are weak.
- A mutated Super Rare from Mutations might trade cheaply while out-earning blank Epics on your plot.
- A traded trophy fills a pedestal today but may teach nothing about your roll pool tomorrow.
Before any trade, ask: Am I buying plot income, social status, or rebirth progress? Only one of those aligns with long-term account strength.
The rebirth rule: self-rolled only
This is the trading fact that destroys accounts. Traded characters do not count for rebirth. The rebirth system cares about self-rolled progress — units you obtained from your own block rolls. A plot that looks god-tier because of traded fillers can be rebirth-empty underneath.
Consequences for traders:
- Trading for a Godly does not substitute farming Godly-tier self rolls on high blocks.
- Trading for mutated showpieces does not replace mutation farming during Weather Events.
- Trading away self-rolled mutated anchors for cosmetic upgrades can delete rebirth eligibility you did not realize you had.
- After rebirth, rebuilding with traded units repeats the same trap.
Read Rebirth carefully before you optimize for Discord screenshots instead of reset math.
When trading helps
Trading is not forbidden wisdom. It helps when:
- You understand exactly what you are giving up.
- The trade fills a temporary pedestal gap while you still farm self-rolled replacements.
- You are collecting for fun after rebirth milestones, not before them.
- You convert duplicate low-tier self-rolled units you would otherwise sell.
Even helpful trades should be treated as rented slots. Replace traded anchors with self-rolled units as your block tier climbs.
When trading hurts progression
Avoid or delay trading when:
- You are preparing for rebirth and counting units that are not self-rolled.
- You have not upgraded blocks to the tier where you can realistically replace the traded unit yourself.
- You are trading self-rolled mutated keepers for blank high-rarity names.
- You trade because impatience, not because cash math supports it.
- You skip learning Increase Luck and Weather Events because trades feel faster.
Trading also interacts badly with Game Passes. VIP and 2x Cash cannot turn traded units into rebirth progress. Paying to look strong trades one bottleneck for another.
Fair trade literacy
Community trade value often references:
- Rarity band from Rarities
- Mutation multipliers from Mutations — all community-tracked, needs check in-game
- Hype names from Players tier chatter
- Event tags like AdminAbuse or Aurora that multiply cash beyond base rarity
Because mutation decimals are community-tracked, do not overpay for a tag you never verified on your own client. A trader’s spreadsheet cell is not your pedestal tick test.
Use Codes and normal grinding to improve self-roll odds before you pay another player for a unit you could farm during the next strong weather window.
Trading versus pets and eggs
Pets and Eggs invest in future self-rolled quality. Trading buys someone else’s past roll. Pets compound every luck session you control. Trades compound social flex. For rebirth-focused accounts, pets and block upgrades almost always beat early trading unless the trade solves an immediate full-plot emergency cheaply.
Safer progression order
- Fill pedestals with your own rolls — any rarity.
- Upgrade blocks before chasing trades.
- Farm mutations during weather instead of buying them.
- Rebirth with self-rolled anchors you understand.
- Trade optionally for fun or collection after milestones.
That order aligns with How to Play, Blocks, and Cash Offline planning.
Scripts are not trading
Scripts and Auto Farm automate clicking. They do not create legitimate traded units or rebirth credit. Treat automation risk separately from trade market risk.

Trade for fun when you understand the cost. Trade for progression only when the unit fills a gap you are actively replacing with self-rolled upgrades. Never confuse a traded Godly with rebirth readiness.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Do traded characters count for rebirth in Roll an Anime?
No. Only self-rolled units count. Traded characters fill pedestals but do not advance rebirth eligibility.
When is trading worth it?
When you treat trades as temporary pedestal fills or collection fun, not as a rebirth strategy. Replace traded units with self-rolled upgrades.
Should I trade for a Godly early?
Usually no if rebirth matters. Early Godly trades often hide weak self-rolled progress and delay learning block and weather farming.
How do mutations affect trade value?
Community-tracked mutation multipliers on Mutations inflate prices, but always verify cash output on your plot before overpaying.
Is trading better than buying game passes?
Different tools. Passes speed self-rolling. Trades skip rolling but do not fix rebirth rules. Most progression accounts prioritize blocks, weather, and passes before trades.
