Roll an Anime Blocks and Roll Pools

Why block upgrades decide rarity more than blind dice grinding.

Blocks Guide

Blocks are the real progression spine of Roll an Anime. Dice decide how often you roll. Blocks decide what those rolls are allowed to become. If you upgrade late, you spend evenings converting cash into Commons. If you upgrade on time and save stock for weather, the same cash produces Rare, Super Rare, Epic, and eventually Godly opportunities much faster.

This guide explains how to think about blocks inside the idle-gacha loop: cash → dice → roll on a block → place characters → earn more cash → upgrade the block → rebirth later. There is no combat to bypass a weak block tier. The shop and your patience are the gate.

What a block actually does

When you roll dice on a block, the block’s tier shapes the rarity distribution of the character you receive. Starter blocks are for filling pedestals and learning the UI. Mid tiers open meaningful Rare and Super Rare volume. High tiers are how players chase Epic and Godly units without relying on trades.

That last point matters. Traded characters do not count for rebirth, so buying your way around block progression with trades is a dead end for reset planning. Self-rolled units from better blocks are the units that still matter when you open the Rebirth Guide.

Upgrade priority versus dice spam

A full plot of Commons should push you toward the next block upgrade, not toward infinite dice on the same weak pool. The income from those Commons exists to buy access to better rolls. Once the plot is full, ask one question before every dice purchase: would this cash be better spent unlocking a stronger block?

Use this order from How to Play:

  1. Fill every pedestal.
  2. Buy the next block tier you can reasonably afford.
  3. Roll on the upgraded block during a decent luck window.
  4. Replace weakest pedestals with better drops.
  5. Repeat until rebirth is the better lever.

Getting Started covers the first-hour version of that order. This page is the mid-game version where block choice becomes the main skill.

Stock, Auto Buy, and why saving matters

Community players treat block stock as a resource, not as something you must empty instantly. Weather and mutation events can raise the value of every roll. If a rare weather window is minutes away, holding stock is often smarter than panic-rolling during a quiet sky. The same idea applies when you are about to redeem luck codes from the Codes Hub.

Useful habits:

  • Keep some stock reserved for rare weather or mutation events.
  • Redeem stock or luck codes only when you are present to roll.
  • If you use Auto Buy style quality-of-life, aim it at the block tier you actually want to farm.
  • Do not Auto Buy a low tier just because the button is available.

Blocks and rarity bands

Rarity in Roll an Anime climbs from Common toward Godly. Exact drop percentages can shift with updates, so treat any screenshot as temporary and verify against current patch notes in Updates. Conceptually:

  • Low blocks: fill pedestals, learn swaps, fund the next upgrade.
  • Mid blocks: produce the Rare and Super Rare backbone that pays for Epic-tier climbing.
  • High blocks: create realistic Epic and Godly chase routes for self-rolled anchors.

Use Rarities for labeling and Best Units for placement targets after the rolls land. The block’s job is to improve the average quality of what you can place.

Mutations make block timing even more valuable

A strong mutation can make a mid-rarity unit out-earn a blank higher rarity. That does not make blocks irrelevant. It makes good weather rolls on good blocks extremely valuable, because you want high base rarity and high mutation on the same self-rolled character whenever possible. Save premium stock for those windows. Read Mutations before you sell a weird-looking unit that might be your best earner.

Blocks after rebirth

Rebirth is not an excuse to forget block discipline. After a reset, your permanent multipliers help you rebuild, but the same upgrade logic returns: fill pedestals, buy the next meaningful block, roll during events, protect self-rolled mutated anchors. Players who rebirth then spam starter blocks out of nostalgia rebuild slowly. Players who race back to the highest affordable block rebuild cleanly.

If your post-rebirth plan depends on traded fillers, stop and reread the rebirth rule. Trades may fill a pedestal today, but they do not solve eligibility or long-term account strength the way self-rolled block progress does.

Game passes that interact with blocks

Community discussions repeatedly mention Auto Roll, 2x Luck, 2x Cash, Storage, and VIP. For blocks specifically:

  • Auto Roll reduces the click burden while farming a chosen tier.
  • 2x Luck / VIP luck effects make each spent stock more valuable during events.
  • 2x Cash / VIP cash effects shorten the time between block upgrades.
  • Storage helps you hold units and avoid panic sells while you reorganize.

None of these passes invent a new loop. They compress the same block-driven loop free players already use.

Practical block session checklist

  1. Check current weather and any mutation event.
  2. Check Codes and only redeem timers you will use now.
  3. Confirm every pedestal is filled using Best Setup rules.
  4. Buy the next block upgrade if cash is sitting idle.
  5. Roll reserved stock on the target block.
  6. Swap weakest pedestals only after comparing mutations.
  7. Leave the server with a full plot so offline cash continues.

Upgrade the block, then roll. That single habit separates unfinished plots from accounts that actually reach Godly chase range.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Should I buy more dice or upgrade my block first?

Once every pedestal is filled, prioritize the next block upgrade. Better pools beat more rolls on a weak block.

Why do players save block stock?

Rare weather and mutation events raise the value of each roll. Saving stock for those windows improves expected returns.

Do better blocks help with rebirth?

Yes. Better blocks produce stronger self-rolled units, and traded characters do not count for rebirth.

Which page explains weather timing for blocks?

Use How to Increase Luck with this guide before spending reserved stock.

Are game passes required to use high-tier blocks?

No. Passes such as Auto Roll, 2x Luck, 2x Cash, Storage, and VIP speed the loop, but upgrades remain cash-driven.
